Poultry Color Standards
We don't typically write help section pages on judging advice, but we get so many reports of "errors" over inconsistent color calls on two-piece plates, we added this one.
It's an extremely common mistake to make. Two pieces are clearly different colors, it must be an inconsistent color, right? Well, no.
If there are only two pieces on a bone-in or boneless plate, there is no color standard set, and therefore, it cannot be inconsistent color just because the two pieces are different colors.
This is directly from page B-39 of the Poultry Science, Manual for National FFA Career Development Events 7th Edition....
If you are competing in FFA CDE contests where they call this differently, THEY ARE WRONG based on the national standard.
